Jesus Helps Cars

Posted by eljamieson at 7:27 AM 0 comments
Last week Vaughn locked himself in Greta's room with the lights out, needless to say we had one SCARED little boy. I explained that it's ok to be scared but when we are scared we can ask Jesus to help us not be scared anymore. Now it's a fun game in our house to lock ourselves in the dark and ask Jesus to help. This has opened up a whole new understanding for Vaughn that Jesus helps people (which was a previous Sunday School topic). At night time we ask Vaughn who we should thank Jesus for and now he asks Jesus to help them too.

This morning I was asking Vaughn who Jesus loves and he was listing off his favourite people. He then says to me, "Mommy, Jesus helps cars?" I assured him that yes Jesus helps cars so he then explained to me how. "Mommy, Jesus gets in the tow truck and drives around and helps the cars." Well not quite but close enough :)

A day in the life of an almost 8 month old

Greta is almost 8 months old and I can't believe how fast time is flying!

Greta starts her day anywhere between 5 - 7:30 am (closer to 7:30 if she is feeling any love for her Mommy that morning) and off she goes on an exciting day of crawling, pulling herself up, stealing her brothers toys, chewing on shoes and shoving pretty much anything in her mouth she can find.

She does what we like to call the 'wounded solider' crawl but don't think that means she is slow getting around, this little girl is quick and nothing is off limits as far as she is concerned. As I'm typing I hear the all too familiar cry 'Mommy, Greta's getting my trains!' Ok crisis averted, Greta got dangerously close to touching something of Vaughn's . . .sigh

Greta has finally embraced the world of solid foods and especially enjoys sweet potatoes! Today for lunch she tried mashed up lentils for the first time and I think we could call it a success. We are doing lentils instead of pureed meat because I remember how gross the meat looked and tasted for Vaughn. I love making my own babyfood and knowing exactly what goes into her mouth . . . well food wise she always has something in her mouth and sometimes I have no idea what it is or where she found it!

Her first tooth appeared yesterday after a much anticipated arrival and she's handling it like a pro. Like her older brother before her teething seems to make her sleepier than normal and I say um.... ok! I'll take 2 solid naps a day and almost sleeping through the night as a side affect of teething any day over crying and screaming 24/7. She is generally a great napper anyway and we are slowly working towards sleeping through the night, someday we'll all feel fully rested come morning.

So that's an update on the youngest member of our family. She is busy, full of smiles, giggles and love . . . we couldn't ask for anything better . . . except maybe to lose the 5 am wake up call
